Born as Christopher Wallace on May 21, 1972, in Brooklyn, New York, Biggie Smalls, also known as Notorious B.I.G., became a drug dealer at a young age. He started experimenting with music as a teenager and, not long after, befriended Sean “Puffy” Combs. His 1994 debut album, Ready to Die, was a smash hit, and his long-running feud with fellow rapper, Tupac Shakur, helped to shape his career. His second and final studio album was “Life After Death”, which went on to become a diamond 10+ million sold classic. Biggie was shot and killed in Los Angeles on March 9, 1997.

The Firm was an American hip hop supergroup that formed in New York City in 1996. It was created by rapper Nas, his manager Steve Stoute, producer Dr. Dre and production team the Trackmasters. The group was composed of East Coast-based rappers Nas, Foxy Brown, AZ and Nature, who served as a replacement for Cormega after he was ousted from the group.
Although the group received initial hype and high expectations from fans upon their formation after collectively signing to Dr. Dre’s Aftermath label, The Firm’s debut album, The Album (1997), generated disappointing sales and generally negative criticism. The album, which featured predominant mafioso rap-themes and production from Dr. Dre and the Trackmasters, was criticized for its mainstream, pop-orientation. Their debut album was the group’s only release and it subsequently disbanded in 1998 with each member continuing their solo careers.

Young Money star Drake took some time away from the recording studio this past weekend by performing at the annual NHL All-Star Game in Canada.

Decked in a hockey jersey, Drizzy told fans how special it was for him to perform.

Drake wore his Canadian pride on his sleeve while attending the 2012 NHL All-Star Game at Scotiabank Place in Ottawa, Canada, on Sunday (Jan. 29). Sporting a custom NHL jersey with his name on it, the Toronto native took the ice to perform his hit “Headlines.” “If you’re proud to be Canadian tonight, I want to hear you make some noise one time. Ladies and gentlemen, my name is Drake, I grew up on the sport that we are here celebrating this evening, and this is one of the greatest honors I’ve ever received,” said the hip-hop star, who also visited the players in the locker room. “I grew up playing hockey. I used to play right wing,” said a gracious Drizzy as he shook hands and took photos with the all-stars, who were equally excited to meet him. (Rap-Up)
NHL stars also gave their reaction to having Drizzy come through.

“I think I was the first one to go on the ice on our side. I’m a huge Drake fan, I love his music. I’m a big hip-hop guy. It was great to be that close and watching him,” said Keith Yandle of the Phoenix Coyotes. “I actually asked him to sign a stick. He said it was the first hockey stick he has signed. It was pretty cool.” For the players in attendance, Drake’s performance was a welcome change of pace compared to the regular season. For players used to discussing strategy with their coaching staff between periods, it was nice to spend the intermission enjoying a performance from a platinum-selling artist. (NHL)
He later hopped on Twitter to give thanks for the celebrated occasion.

“Thanks to everybody at NHL for an amazing night! All the players that showed love and all the fans! I got Gino’s game stick!!!!!,” he tweeted January 29th. (Drake’s Twitter)
Last fall, EA Sports producer Sean Ramjagsingh talked to SOHH about the popularity of video game NHL 12.

“First and foremost, we have some hardcore hockey fans that we have to cater to,” Sean told SOHH. “They will appreciate all of the little things that we do. Those guys will appreciate every little improvement that we put into the game. But we also want to try and grow the sport of hockey as well. We want to not only cater to hockey fans but to sports fans as well. That’s why we have things in the game like the Winter Classic. If there’s people out there who don’t watch hockey every single night, that’s OK. The one game that they might watch is the Winter Classic. It’s just a beautiful spectacle with players playing outside. As often as we can, we try to appeal to all the sports fans out there, especially with the non-hockey fans and trying to expose the sport to them.” (SOHH)

Grammy-winning rapper T.I. has informed his fans and the media alike that there are no issues brewing between him and Bad Boy Records CEO Diddy after publicly chastising his behavior at an Atlanta club a few days ago.

Tip cleared the air and admitted seeing Internet gossip surrounding the situation.

“I’ve been seeing a lot of embellishment going on online,” Tip explained in an interview. “First of all, me and Puff, we go way, way back. That’s like a brother to me. So whatever was said by me was said out of love. I made no attempt to belittle him or to check him. Puff’s a grown man, he do what he want to do. I just felt it was necessary for me to separate for myself from the situation that was going on, just so people knew that I wasn’t involved because of my personal circumstances. That’s the kind of activity that I can’t afford to engage in right now.” (“Wild Atlanta”)

The rapper also ensured that their close-knit relationship was not affected by the situation.

“We spoke that night, spoke the next day, spoke today. Me and Puff, we like brothers. We cool, we good. He one of the first people on his level to reach down to me when no one knew who T.I. was. Earlier today, Diddy publicly apologized for his weekend rant.

“I’m a child God and I should be better no matter what somone says to me. I’m sorry for the ignorant way I repesented myself and us.,” he tweeted October 4th.
“To all my childen of God … I have backslid and regressed. Forgive me for my ignorance. Pray for me pls. I know better and I am better.”

After Puff blasted club patrons for not drinking Ciroc, Tip scolded him.

I ain’t for that fight s-t. I will get the f-k on out of this b–h and let ya’ll have it. I’ve done enough time. Ain’t nobody else in this muthaf-ka talking about fighting and have did time. In just two years, Drake has made his OVOfest concert into a Toronto staple, an annual event that I can see expanding the same way Perry Ferrell blew up Lollapalooza. Especially if he takes advantage of his own diverse music tastes and blends rap acts with folks like the XX, Florence and the Machine etc.
Last year, Jay-Z, Eminem and Young Jeezy came out for the show. This year, Drake opened the show with The Weeknd (only his 2nd major performance), and then Rick Ross. And then brought out J.Cole, Nas, and the legendary Stevie Wonder as guests during his own set. Mikey and Gabz collected observations and great photos during the actual concert, and there were lots of folks at the show like Erika/Billboard, Toronto native Iluvlola, Nigel D, YN, and more. But I also loved seeing the fan reactions….there were definitely some very enthusiastic ladies on hand… (MissInfo)
